《岳飞》当年由于亚视引进台湾《包青天》的缘故 而被压后播出，至七月才出街，但六月已在泰国发行录影带。据资料显示，当年《岳飞》在泰国推出后便成为录影带剧集收视之冠，成绩斐然，在泰国曾哄动一时。萧笙监制连同剧中两位主角徐少强、尹天照更获邀至泰国宣传。期间获当地电视台的访问及出席各类宣传活动，代理商更将他们访问泰国之行拍成录影带，在当地市场推出发行。
《岳飞》在泰国受到欢迎当然有其实力之处，萧笙叔曾表示，由于当时越来越多无厘头剧集出现，所以他想开拍一套较有教育意义的剧集，让香港观众了解更多历史。所以开拍之前，他们已花了三个月作资料收集。
