李小龙（吴大维饰）年少时始痴迷武术，拜咏春一代宗师叶轩（徐二牛饰）为师。小龙挑战同学石少虎（吕颂贤饰）为师。小龙挑战同学石少虎（吕颂贤饰）却饮恨败于半招之内，后又与莫逆之交唐发（张家辉饰）为救人与人打架，惹下大祸！因此，龙父李百川（刘家良饰）决意送他真诚美留学。
在美国，小龙凭其功夫根底，在唐人街打出名堂，开设振藩武馆，收徒传艺，幸会曾叱吒武坛的严星南（高雄饰）。在严的教授和支持下，小龙参加全美长堤博击大赛，力克群雄……因此也被荷里活片商看中，开始演艺生涯。期间，活泼机灵的方霏（万绮雯饰）、妇女解放份子叶惠明（关咏荷饰）和柔情似水的Linda Moore（谭筠怡饰）均爱上小龙，有情人能否终成眷属？
数年后，小龙回港拍功夫电影，成为享誉国际的功夫明星，而高天鹏（江华饰）从中设计，小龙再战石少虎……丁蓓蓓（王玮饰）的一往情深使小龙夫妻感情出现裂痕！恩怨爱恨，何时了？！
